This tool tells you your exact age in years, months and days from your date of birth. It also shows how many months, weeks, days and roughly how many hours you have been alive, the weekday you were born on, and how long until your next birthday.
There is a second calculator underneath for the gap between any two dates. People use that one for notice periods, visa stays, how long a baby has been around, or how many days are left until an exam.
How to use
- Enter your Date of birth.
- Leave Age at as it is to get your age today, or pick another date to see how old you were (or will be) on that day.
- Read the Exact age box, then the totals below it, Next birthday and Day you were born.
- For a date gap, scroll to Difference between two dates, fill in From and To, and tick Include the end date if both the first and last day should count.
How exact age is worked out
The tool counts whole months first, then the leftover days. Say you were born on 15 June 1995 and today is 11 October 2026. From 15 June 1995 to 15 September 2026 is 31 years and 3 months. From 15 September to 11 October is 26 days. So the answer is 31 years, 3 months, 26 days.
Months have different lengths, which is where many quick calculators go wrong. They assume 30 days in every month or divide total days by 365.25, and the day count ends up off by one or two. This tool uses the real calendar, so February has 28 or 29 days and the rest have their usual 30 or 31.
One odd case is a month end. If the start date is 31 January, "one month later" doesn't exist in February, so the tool treats it as the last day of February. From 31 January to 1 March in a normal year comes out as 1 month and 1 day.
Leap year birthdays
If you were born on 29 February, you only get a true birthday every four years. In other years this calculator counts your birthday on 28 February, so you turn a year older then. Some people celebrate on 1 March instead, and legal rules on this differ between countries. If it matters for a document, check what the office you are dealing with uses.
Counting days between two dates
The difference section gives the gap in years, months and days, plus the total day count. By default it counts the way most people expect: from Monday to Friday is 4 days.
Tick Include the end date when every day in the range counts, for example a hotel stay or a leave application where both the first and last day are days off. Then Monday to Friday becomes 5 days. If you put the later date in From by mistake, the tool swaps them and tells you.
All of this uses your device's local date. Nothing is converted to another time zone, so a date never slips to the day before.
FAQ
How do I calculate my exact age?
Enter your date of birth and leave the second date as today. The tool shows your age in years, months and days, counted on the real calendar.
What day of the week was I born?
It is shown under your exact age and in the Day you were born box as soon as you enter a birth date.
Is my date of birth saved or sent anywhere?
No. The calculation runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded or stored. It is free and needs no account.
How many days until my birthday?
Look at the Next birthday box. It shows the countdown in days, the date and the weekday it falls on, and the age you will turn.
Why does another site give me a different number of days?
Usually because it counts the end date, or because it uses an average month length. Try ticking Include the end date to compare.
