This converter changes images between JPG, PNG and WebP. Drop in one file or fifty, pick the format you need, and download them one at a time or together as a zip. It is handy when a website only accepts JPG, when you need a transparent PNG, or when you want smaller WebP files for your own site.

The conversion runs on your device. Your images are not uploaded anywhere.

How to use

  1. Click Choose images or drop them here and add your files.
  2. Under Convert to, pick JPG, PNG or WebP.
  3. For JPG or WebP, set the Quality. For JPG, choose a Background color for any transparent areas (white is the default).
  4. Click Convert and wait for each file to finish.
  5. Download single files with the arrow button, or click Download all (.zip).

JPG, PNG or WebP: which one to pick

Each format is good at different things, and picking the wrong one is the usual reason for huge files or ugly edges.

Format Best for Transparency Typical size
JPG Photos, uploads to forms and portals No Small
PNG Logos, screenshots, graphics with text, anything transparent Yes Large for photos
WebP Websites, smaller copies of photos or graphics Yes Smallest

JPG is the safe default for photos. Every app, printer and government form accepts it. It throws away detail you mostly cannot see, which is why the files are small.

PNG keeps every pixel exactly. That makes it right for screenshots, diagrams and logos, where JPG leaves fuzzy smudges around sharp text. Saving a phone photo as PNG, though, can make it three to five times bigger with no visible gain.

WebP usually gives the smallest file at the same look and supports transparency. Modern browsers all show it. Some older desktop software and some upload forms still reject it, so convert to JPG for those.

Transparent images and the background colour

JPG has no transparency. When you convert a transparent PNG (a logo, a sticker, a product cut-out) to JPG, the see-through parts need some colour. Many converters turn them black, which looks broken. Here they get the Background color you choose, white by default. If the image will sit on a coloured page, pick that colour so the edges blend in.

Converting to PNG or WebP keeps transparency as it is.

iPhone HEIC photos

iPhones save photos as HEIC by default. Whether this page can open them depends on your browser: Safari on iPhone and Mac usually can, while many other browsers cannot. If a HEIC file shows an error, open this page in Safari, or change the setting on your iPhone at Settings, Camera, Formats, Most Compatible so new photos are saved as JPG. When you share photos from the iPhone Photos app to some apps, they are often converted to JPG automatically too.

About quality

A quality of 85 to 90 percent looks the same as the original for nearly all photos. Going to 100 makes files much bigger for almost no visible difference. Converting a JPG to PNG will not bring back detail the JPG already lost; it just stores the same image in a larger file.

FAQ

How do I convert PNG to JPG without a black background?

Choose JPG, leave Background color on white (or pick another colour), and convert. Transparent areas are filled with that colour instead of black.

Can I convert WebP to JPG?

Yes. Add the WebP files, choose JPG and click Convert. This is useful when a site or app refuses WebP uploads.

Does converting reduce image quality?

Converting to PNG is lossless. Converting to JPG or WebP compresses the image, but at 85 percent quality or higher the difference is very hard to see.

Is it free, and are my files uploaded?

It is free, with no limits or watermark. The conversion happens in your browser, so the files stay on your device.
