This calculator estimates what you actually keep from an Amazon sale after referral fees, fulfillment, storage, shipping and returns. It is built for resellers and private label sellers who want a quick yes or no on a product before buying stock, and it works for both FBA (Amazon ships) and FBM (you ship).
You get net profit, margin, ROI, a break-even price and a FLIP, RISKY or SKIP verdict based on thresholds you set. All values are in US dollars, using US marketplace fees as of October 2026.
How to use
- Choose FBA (Amazon ships) or FBM (you ship).
- Enter the Sale price ($) and your Product cost ($), including any sales tax you paid.
- Pick a Category. The referral fee is worked out from Amazon's published table, including price tiers and the $0.30 minimum, and shown under the field. Pick Custom rate to type your own.
- For FBA, leave Estimate from size on and enter the package Length, Width, Height in inches and the packed Unit weight. The tool finds the size tier, the shipping weight and the fulfillment fee. Set how many months a unit sits in storage, and tick Holiday peak fees if you sell between October 15 and January 14. If you already know the fee, switch to Enter my own.
- Add Inbound shipping and placement, Prep and labeling, Other costs and a Returns and damage allowance (%). For FBM, enter your own shipping and packaging instead.
- Adjust Minimum profit per unit and Minimum ROI to match your own rules. The verdict and the Cost breakdown per unit table update straight away.
Which fees are built in
Referral fees come from Amazon's public fee table. Most categories pay 15%, computers and consumer electronics pay 8%, and a few categories change rate with price. Beauty, health and baby products pay 8% at $10 or less and 15% above that. Clothing pays 5% at $15 or less, 10% up to $20 and 17% above. Furniture, jewelry, watches and electronics accessories charge a high rate on the first part of the price and a lower rate on the rest.
The FBA estimate uses the rate card that took effect on January 15, 2026. Fees now come in three price bands (under $10, $10 to $50, over $50), so the same box costs more to ship when it sells for $60 than for $20. On top of that, Amazon added a 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge on April 17, 2026, which the tool includes. Large standard items are charged on whichever is higher, the real weight or the dimensional weight (length × width × height ÷ 139, with width and height counted as at least 2 inches).
Storage uses $0.78 per cubic foot per month from January to September and $2.40 from October to December, for standard-size items with a healthy sell-through rate. Slow sellers pay a storage utilization surcharge on top, which this tool does not add.
The estimate covers standard-size, non-apparel items. Apparel, dangerous goods and bulky items have their own rate cards, so use Enter my own for those.
How the numbers are calculated
Net profit is the sale price minus every cost line: product cost, referral fee, fulfillment (or your shipping and packaging), storage, inbound, prep, other costs and the returns allowance.
- Margin is profit ÷ sale price. It tells you how much room you have if the price drops.
- ROI is profit ÷ product cost. It tells you how hard your cash is working.
- Break-even price is the lowest price where profit reaches zero. Referral tiers and FBA price bands both move with the price, so the tool searches for it rather than using one formula.
With the default example (a 10 × 6 × 3 inch box weighing 1.2 lb, selling at $29.99 in Home and Kitchen, cost $12) the referral fee is $4.50 and fulfillment is about $5.61. Profit comes out around $6.02 per unit, an ROI just over 50%, so it shows FLIP.
Common mistakes
Forgetting inbound shipping is the big one. Getting boxes to Amazon's warehouse costs money, and so can the placement fee for sending everything to fewer locations. Another is using the current Buy Box price when ten other sellers are about to undercut it. Run the numbers at a lower price too and see if the deal still works. I wrote more about this in Amazon FBA profit math explained.
FAQ
Is this Amazon FBA calculator free?
Yes. It runs entirely in your browser, nothing is sent to a server, and you don't need an account.
How accurate are the fees?
The referral table and the 2026 FBA rate card are built in, so for a standard-size item the estimate should land within a few cents. Amazon measures your product itself, though, and its numbers win. Compare with the Revenue Calculator in Seller Central before a big order.
What ROI should I aim for?
Many resellers use 30% or more as a floor, but it depends on how fast the item sells and how much risk you can carry. Set your own number in Minimum ROI.
Does it work for FBM?
Yes. Switch to FBM (you ship) and the fulfillment, storage and inbound fields are replaced with your own shipping and packaging costs. The referral fee still applies.
What does RISKY mean?
The product makes a profit, but it misses your minimum profit or ROI. A small price drop or a couple of returns could turn it into a loss.
